About Patti

Helping people feel confident, capable, and calm - no matter what life throws at them.

I’m Patti Hemmings - a qualified, experienced and friendly First Aid Instructor with a passion for practical learning and giving people the confidence to help when it matters most.

After working for years in healthcare and education, I saw how often people freeze in a crisis - not because they don’t care, but because they’ve never been shown what to do. That’s why I started delivering first aid training: to make it simple, human, and genuinely useful. I have enjoyed it so much that I am still providing these sessions 20 years later.

What you can expect from me

I don’t do death-by-PowerPoint. My sessions are interactive, supportive, and grounded in real-life scenarios. You’ll leave feeling more prepared, not more overwhelmed.

I’ve worked with schools, nurseries, dog groomers, HR teams, care homes, and individuals from all walks of life - and I always tailor the tone and pace to suit the group and individuals.

Whether we’re talking CPR, childhood illness, pet emergencies or mental health, I keep it practical and positive.

Qualifications & Training

I’m based in Harrogate, and travel to deliver training across the North Yorkshire region and beyond. I believe learning should feel safe, relevant and even a little fun - and I’ll always bring a calm, down-to-earth energy to the room.

When I’m not running courses, you’ll find me with a dog at my feet, a coffee in hand, or out enjoying the fresh air.

Alongside First Aid Training Harrogate, I also run Optimum Health with Patti Hemmings, a business focused on Hypnotherapy, Acupuncture, personalised health screenings and wellbeing support. With a background in both education and health, I’m passionate about helping people feel empowered - whether that’s through learning life-saving first aid skills or understanding their own health better. The two strands of my work often go hand-in-hand, reflecting my commitment to care, confidence, and real-world support.
